One April Day in Lexington

Matt and I had a crazy day today. We began with "Sunrise Service" at Keeneland:

Then we headed over to shoot photos of a 45 day old baby at Shadwell Farm:

Matt is hired by Shadwell to take photos of the babies at 45 days old for Sheik Hamdan. The staff at Shadwell are absolutely wonderful and infinitely patient with the young ones. As you can see we had a wonderful day to shoot photos there.

Then we were back to Keeneland to shoot the races and the feature race - The Maker's Mark Mile.

Karelian was the winner and even broke the stakes record!

Julian Leparoux was on board - seems he's having a good meet at Keeneland!

Tomorrow is the biggest day of Keeneland's Spring meet - it's Bluegrass Stakes day. There are lots of television cameras set up and they held a practice today with the Maker's Mark Mile. I believe it will be on NBC Sports (call me "master of the obvious" since all the cameras and cameramen have NBC on them).

So we are laying low tonight to prepare for a long and busy day tomorrow. Matt has been hired to shoot photos of a 2 yr old in training with Kenny McPeek. The owner is completely enamored with his horse (he wrote in an email how pretty her red eyelashes are) which makes this a fun assignment. So we will be at Keeneland for "sunrise service" again and stay until after the last race.
